Waterproof Cellphones, at Last!

Fujitsu Waterproof Cellphones

In Japan, Fujitsu also makes phones. They’re of the style so common in Japan—flat, rectangular clamshells—but are shiny, pretty and, as of now, waterproof. Offered by carrier NTTDoCoMo [the country’s biggest telecommunications company], it’ll survive for half an hour in up to a meter of water.

The fingerprint [Integrated Fingerprint Security System] technology is developed by AuthenTec, a provider of fingerprint sensors and solutions. The Symbian-based F-01A comes with a 3.2-inch VGA display (touchscreen), a 5.2-Mpixel camera with autofocus function, GPS (it also displays Google Street View images), a One-Seg digital TV tuner, an e-wallet function and microSDTM/microSDH slots. Users can use it underwater for about 30 minutes in up to one meter.

Cool huh, I mean compare the phones you see in your junk mail pamphlets to these colourfully slick numbers: DOCOMO
