Kiwi Singer-Songwriter Lorde’s Brutal Honesty
Came across a cool photo of singer-songwriter, Lorde in a Tilda Swinton, David Bowie sandwich. Quite possibly the coolest photo anyone could hope to be in, like that man’s head in the background, I bet he’s even framed this picture on his bedside dresser:
The Museum Of Modern Art’s annual benefit celebrated the Oscar-winning actress, Tilda Swinton’s contribution to film. Swinton, who turned 53 on Tuesday was also presented with a birthday cake at the event.

Although I don’t connect with Lorde’s songs, I like her for the fact that she is a young artist with talent and happens to be a Kiwi, unsurprisingly — New Zealand has a great music scene. This morning I found another reason to like her; the fact Lorde’s worldwide fame wasn’t fostered from within the American music industry, her opinions about other artists’ songs are freely outspoken and downright honest — albeit subjective:
On Selena Gomez
On whether or not she’d ever work with DJ David Guetta
On Miley Cyrus’ VMAs performance
On calling out other pop stars
On love songs/Taylor Swift
On Taylor Swift
To clarify, Lorde explained her remark on her tumblr page in response to a fan’s question. “…i think i cocked that up a bit and what i said wasn’t put in context also. what i meant was: there’s a lot of importance placed on physical perfection in this industry, and i wish my favourite stars didn’t look perfect because i think fans (me included) have these feelings of worthlessness, like they’ll never be as pretty/talented/whatever, as a result of this intense photoshop culture and the endless strive for perfection…”
On Lana Del Rey
On Justin Bieber
And lastly, on Beyoncé
Preach! If an interviewer asks for her opinion about lyrics or current trends in the music industry, why should she hide behind a veil of sycophancy? Way to put it down, Lorde.
