Michele Leggott, MC for the Lounge poetry readings, had asked Selina, my lecturer, if she knew of any new student poets who she could recommend reading at the next Lounge event. Guess what — Selina asked me. LOL. After reading one poem about a whiteboard which was genuinely written out of frustration for having to write for five minutes about a whiteboard, Selina has extended the invitation to me to read at this privileged event, which I had assumed was most definitely for students currently in or had graduated from the Postgraduate Master of Creative Writing (MCW) paper. Nothing is official yet, but my name will be put forward for Michele’s consideration.

Not sure if I should be feeling excited or worried about this or what? I accepted her offer with resound encouragement from fellow student, Makyla, and because hey, I’ll never turn down an invitation without a good reason. I don’t have any intentions of impressing anyone there, so I’m not so nervous about performing (atm), and also with five minutes on the mic, I’m pretty sure I can extend my sestina to that amount of time. Something of an experience huh, getting thrown in the deep end of poetry …I’m so screwed.
