Death From Above 1979 “Cheap Talk” [unofficial music video]
David Dean Burkhart has done it again — merging interesting, old footage with modern music to produce something that is visceral and just the right amount of cool:
Footage is from the ridiculous (and awesome) 1983 fantasy kung fu flick “Holy Flame of the Martial World,” wherein an orphan must avenge his parents and recover the legendary Holy Flame sword: (So much special effects!!!)
“You get demons, ghosts, zombies, living tapestries, an (English-speaking!) Western demon, superpowered hermits, conspirators, monks, deadly traps, skeletons, temples, dungeons, secret magic techniques, and the list goes on and on. It’s fucking amazing and doesn’t stop for a minute.” — Letterboxd.com
Death from Above 1979 are a Canadian punk rock duo from Toronto, Ontario — Jesse F. Keeler on bass, synths, and backing vocals, and Sebastien Grainger on vocals and drums.
Their first full-length album, You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine, was released in late 2004 on Last Gang Records. The band broke up in 2006, but announced a reunion in 2011. Their second album, The Physical World, was released in September 2014. You should get it.
