Narrow-minded “Blade Runner” Producers

•March 20, 2013 • Leave a Comment

Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner is hailed as a sci-fi masterpiece, although not all the executives responsible for producing Blade Runner were on board with the production.

A select few had naive opinions and no idea how to address their general concerns in a constructive manner — being an A-hole must have been a prerequisite for the job — Here is the official proof, as recently discovered memos reveal:

Tandem Productions executives Jerry Perenchio, Bud Yorkin, and Robin French

It’s not a big deal but an interesting insight none the less. No matter how prolific you get or are at your craft, there will always be haters.

Who’s to know whether they truly invested themselves into the story, is old history now, but I’m going to enjoy mocking them anyway and say they probably never finished a book in their lives. Thanks for not screwing up in the end — one of my beloved films — jerks.

The new sci-fi actioner by Guillermo del Toro is going to be a blast, and remarkably, this swede doesn’t take anything away from my anticipation:

Dumb Drum, the creators of the video happened to be swede masters — visit their youtube page to see more.

This is a fantastic video, drawing parallels in the world we live in with an admirable affect — Great juxtaposition:

Toleration In Desire [F]

I am definitely a late-bloomer; allow me to explain: I finally quit my dreadful, going nowhere job — Freedom Cry — I did this awhile ago but haven’t had the time to share the great news. No one word can describe my exuberance, but a few profane remarks were yawped aloud on that glorious day.

The reason why I took the job in the first place…as a mere machine operator/industrial chemical cleaner/orderly (I hate admitting that. Kind of shameful) is because a respectable man I was living with at the time, was made redundant. He was having difficulty paying the bills so I chose to support him/both of us until the day he found himself a steady income and I could do something worthwhile with my life. I alone made that decision three years ago.

I was a shy, stuttering lost boy when I was given my hospital uniform, but I was happy. It felt like the right thing to be doing. I wasn’t wrong, but just as time heals grief, if you’re inattentive to the passing and lose track of the initial reason for why you’re doing the thing you’re doing, rationalization can be swallowed by contempt. I felt like a real nobody – shame amongst friends, shame amongst strangers – Wouldn’t you in my position?

It took a few odd encounters and soul-searching (it wasn’t like I didn’t have the time) to find out what I wanted, and I am finally in a position to do something about my life.

First Semester at the University of Auckland (UoA) began last week. Guess what? I am a first year student and proud…ish. I qualify as being a ‘mature student.’ I’m not fond of the term, but truth is truth. Though my stubble catches a few gazes from some of the more younger generations, the classes/papers/majors I’ve taken are straightforward enough, making me wish I had done this a looong time ago.

Then again, I may have needed a reason to desire it first.

Watching ‘Regular Show’ With My Bro [F]

•March 12, 2013 • Leave a Comment

My kid-brother, Kaig, is awesome. He watches a bunch of stuff I don’t get, and music I think is crap — heard of this racket the kids are calling Dubstep? More like dumbstep. What is up with that stuff? Did everyone decide it was cool to start remixing Vuvuzela?

He did introduce me to Adventure Time which I love and now he’s got me liking Regular Show. The animation is decent enough to sit through and the randomness is actually funny. We were watching Cartoon Network together when this came on and sold me:

Limited Edition Cartoon Network Vannan Watch - Regular Show - Mordecai and The RigbysKaig’s birthday is months away, but I found this sweet Vannen watch and if he doesn’t want it, I could totally rock it. Yeah, listen to some dumpstep and I might be cool with the kids again! Yeeaahh, super-fly. …What? No one says super-fly anymore? …No one ever said super-fly? …Sheeeit.

Holy Moses, who needs to part waters when you look like you could fly! (that was cheesy but just run with it, Fin) Ahh, daaamn shoes, do you have a library card? Because I am checking you out:

Air Forces are and will always be a classic. Named after the character, Iron-Man, this sneaker features a metallic gold base outlined with varsity red leather, a classic white midsole, and a gum sole.

Even those who hate Air Forces are being wow’ed by this great color way, along with the other Downtown Air Forces they were release with.

You can find these at your nearest Social Status location for $175.

Leading Around The World – A Photographer’s Travels

•March 8, 2013 • Leave a Comment

These photos are so good I almost didn’t believe they were authentic. They could have come from some photoshopping travel agency, but no, further investigation revealed these to be the work of one (lucky) man, Murad Osmann, a happy executive producer at a Russian video company, who spends his days snapping life-affirming photos of his travels with the girlfriend, around the world. As successful executive producers do.

His series of travel photos is quiet ingenious. If the scenery doesn’t grab you, chances are, your focus diverted directly on the girl’s various manicures; typical:

GAME OF THRONES

By The Old Gods and the New, I love Game Of Thrones. Rarely does a TV show hook me on the first episode, and I am unabashed to say that yep, I’m a fan. I just finished the second season in time for the third season official HBO trailer release, and It looks good:

I love the trials the heroes face under adversity whilst loving to hate their enemies, the constant revealing of their character and most of all, I love the cast that bring them to life. Casting is spot-on, the chemistry between all the actors are dynamic and keep building my expectations, as opposed to stalling on stereotypical type-casts. All roles are played great and truly add flesh to their novel counterparts from which they were adapted — A Song of Ice and Fire is a series of epic fantasy novels written by American novelist and screenwriter George R. R. Martin — there are seven books and with the budget getting bigger every season, Game Of Thrones is set to becoming one of the most epic stories ever told and you should at least look in to it (if you can handle the adult orientated content of course, I know some people can’t stand it)

It’s hard to write about something you like and not give anything away, just in case there are some new fans reading this who have yet to be indoctrinated into this B.A.M.F of a show. Having said; here are some spoilerific screenshots to whet your appetite:

All I need now is my Iron Throne booze and I’ll be set!
