Adidas has made a number of Star Wars mashups that I never really got. But this new Mos Eisley Cantina advert featuring Snoop Dogg, Daft Punk, Oasis, David Beckham and Greedo is a step in the right direction. Fo rizzle.

…I was actually pretty disappointed by David Beckham’s lame performance, and Jedi Master Snoop Dogg with a lightsaber does not work for me either, sorry. Step up.

When that drum beat on Phil Collins ‘In the Air Tonight’ kicks-in, you can’t help but air-drum along on something right?

…I imagine this urge is heightened when you’re bat-shit drunk:

The incident took place Saturday, May 8 at a wedding in Daytona Beach, FL. DJ Fast Eddie (he declined to disclose his last name) runs an upholstery business in Daytona Beach and has been an independent DJ and singer in the Florida area since 1993.

And in case you’re wondering, the boob-slapping wedding DJ didn’t get paid for the show. Talk about internet fame though, 2.8 million views and counting! Bingo Bongo.

IHC commenter ‘Dirtbag Kingdom’ had this to say: “I miss the mystique of finding old, mildewed girly magazines in the woods on a walk home from school or weekend adventure. An entire generation will never know the secret joy that discovery brings. What america needs now is a Johnny Appleseed of Pornography.”

I always wondered what kind of person would discard old magazines like that. I found a fridge full at an abandoned warehouse once. I was with 2 of my mates and it was a full on scramble. I even remember being punched in the face over a Swank mag and several pages of a pregnant lady… We stashed them in my backyard hut and then it got burnt down by my pyromaniac friend… Too much pain… Too much… The internet’s the way to go for sure:

Students at Minnesota’s Carleton College unveiled an awesomely elaborate prank – They turned the campus astronomical observatory into a giant R2D2! Epic Win. The force is strong in this one:

The above picture on the left is how the Goodsell Observatory dome at Carelton College in Minnesota looked on June 1st, 2010. The picture on the right is how the dome looked on June 2nd thanks to its creative and mischievous student body.

Sweet, but does it project a 50 feet Princess Leia hologram?

New Zealand Music Month

New Zealand Music Month is officially over, and I haven’t posted a thing about it this month. So here to make up for my slack commitment are a few homegrown Kiwi tunes:

NZ Music Month is a promotion run by the NZ Music Commission that takes place each May, with other organisations including NZ On Air, RIANZ, APRA, Independent Music NZ, and the Radio Broadcasters Association also closely involved.

😀 Now you just try to tell me that New Zealand music isn’t cool 😀

R.I.P. Dennis Hopper, died at the age of 74

“Fuck that Shit! Pabst Blue Ribbon!” Legendary actor Dennis Hopper was recently pronounced dead at his home in California at the age of 74.

Hopper, whose career included roles in such movies as Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet, Space Truckers, Speed and Super Mario Bros the Movie had been suffering from complications from prostate cancer.

Dennis Hopper as the awesome Frank Booth in David Lynch’s surrealist noir flick Blue Velvet (1986). Blue Velvet was so out there you could argue it qualifies as urban fantasy:

265 MPH… The science of getting kicked in the balls

I was expecting a really funny sketch, what I got though was very, err, informative…

From the show Sports Science, it’s a sciencey look at what happens when a MMA fighter kicks a martial arts master in the wedding tackle, complete with official looking 3D rendered skeletons and testicles and muscular systems …But it’s still just a guy getting kicked in the balls with 1100 pounds of force. Apple’s ‘Get a Mac’ TV ad campaign officially concludes – here’s a recap

One commenter argues that this campaign is really more Justin Long vs the very cool John Hodgman:

“I always thought this was the stupidest thing ever. Basically the world divides into two camps: 1) people who go by appearances, who think Justin Long looked hip, and 2) people who know how awesome John Hodgman is, and who therefore thought: “Hey, being a PC must be pretty cool if he’s one”. Good casting, Apple!”

…ending a particularly irritating chapter of tech advertising history. The window for nostalgia here is impossibly small, so watch this comprehensive recap while you still care.

In five years time you’ll probably be glad to have forgotten these ads ever existed, but today and today only, it’s worth watching OneMoreThing’s amazingly thorough recap of all the spots. Who knew so many of these even existed?

Not that anyone truly cares; but this was a clever ad campaign.
