A P R I L   F O O L S

HAHAHA EPIC! We finally see the face of Master Chief!

Of all the April Fools Day crap from today, IGN seems to have taken the cake with their fake Halo movie trailer that shows that Master Chief is both a fighter and a lover. And a damn good dancer. OH BENNY LAVA!

I was expecting a fake trailer but this came with a Bollywood twist that totally got me laughing! Awesomesauce!

GOEMON IS AWESOME!!! [movie review]

•April 1, 2010 • 1 Comment

I watched this movie today and it was BETTER than I had expected it to be:

Director Kazuaki Kiriya sure has come along way since Casshern (one of my top 10); while being outlandishly live-action-manga-like, Goemon manages to feel grounded in reality (jumping ninjas aside). The script is witty, swordplay cool and the CGI is greatly improved in Goemon as well as the characters. They are more complex, all with fleshed out pasts that intertwine with one another throughout the picture, and being a visual spectacle with a run time of 128minutes, everything just works and is the perfect film for the fearless Kazuaki Kiriya. I funking loved it!

If it comes to a film festival near you, definitely try to catch this. (Only $11)

Can ‘dew’ believe it: Stunning pictures of sleeping insects covered in water droplets by physiotherapist Miroslaw Swietek

•March 30, 2010 • Leave a Comment

DailyMail has an amazing page of extreme close-up insects covered in water droplets; a sight many of us could not appreciate, until now:

Glistening in the early morning, these insects look like creatures from another planet as dew gathers on their sleeping bodies.

Droplets of water bead on the head of this blue dragonfly as it slumbers on a leaf.

Mr Swietek gets up at 3am to capture the insects while they are less active in a forest near his home.

Another dragonfly enjoys an early morning wash. Mr Swietek only took up photography two and a half years ago.

The insects appear to be completely drenched in water as they rest while the sun is down.

This month looks like it has been encrusted in diamonds as it rests on a twig.

If Video Games Were Real

If games were real, I’d probably want to kick it with Klaymen and spend my weekends pretending to play beach volleyball with the ladies of DOA 😉

“So, arguably, the only video game that would be better if it were real is Tomb Raider. I think we can all agree on that.”

Meet The ‘Ice Blacks’ – The Rugby Match at the Bottom of the World, Antarctica

•March 27, 2010 • Leave a Comment

For 26 years straight, New Zealand has defeated the US in rugby to win the Ross Island Cup. But these aren’t professional rugby players -they are scientists and support staff who live and work in Antarctica!

The national team back home in New Zealand are the All Blacks, but the team from Scott Base goes by the name Ice Blacks. The US team from McMurdo Station, well, most of them don’t even know how to play rugby before they are recruited for the annual game. Yesterday’s game is recounted in embarrassing detail at Discover Magazine.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World [movie trailer]

Excellent! Michael Cera definitely has that nice innocent boy charm in spades, which will be a great payoff when he starts fighting back I think.

After months of hype, the first official movie trailer for the film adaptation of the Bryan Lee O’Malley comic book Scott Pilgrim vs the World.

The film is directed by Edgar Wright and stars Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Johnny Simmons, Ellen Wong, Allison Pill and Mark Webber, and Anna Kendrick.

Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), bass guitarist for the garage band Sex Bob-omb, has just met the girl of his dreams. However, he must defeat Ramona Flowers’ (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) seven evil ex-boyfriends, who are coming to kill him:

[ps: I am soo sorry Mr Wright]
