Man Gets Arrested to Avoid Spending New Year’s Eve with Family – Ingenious

•January 4, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Man begs to spend new year in jail… What a terrible thing to BEG for:

The 35-year-old Sicilian first showed up at a police station on Thursday (local time) asking to be arrested because he preferred spending the night in prison rather than with his family, but was rebuffed because he had not committed a crime, the Agi news agency said on Friday.

The man immediately went to a tobacco shop next door, where he threatened the owner with a boxcutter as he grabbed a few sweets and a packet of gum.

He then waited until police arrived to arrest him for robbery.

A Sicilian man you say… Was he talking about his family or, “The Family” (hint hint)

Actor Patrick Stewart and Director Peter Jackson have been Knighted

Actor Patrick Stewart and director Peter Jackson have been knighted in England and New Zealand, respectively.

Patrick Stewart (“Star Trek,” “X-Men,”) was the biggest name on Queen Elizabeth II’s New Year honors list. He said of the knighting, “This is an honor that embraces those actors, directors and creative teams who have in these recent years helped fill my life with inspiration, companionship and sheer fun.”

Queen Elizabeth II also sanctions the New Zealand honors, stemming from the country’s start as a British colony. “Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson said of knighthood, “I didn’t think anything would surpass the 2004 Academy Awards, but I was wrong.”

Previously knighted celebrities include Agatha Christie, Ralph Fiennes, Ian McKellan, Liam Neesen, Olivia Newton-John, J.K. Rowling and Maggie Smith. Bono and Steven Spielberg have honorary knighthoods.

Congratulations, Sir Patrick and Sir Peter.

Well done Olivia Munn and Eva Amurri:

This amalgam is better than the films which inspired it …Okay, maybe not better than the original ‘Thelma & Louise.’ That movie was a classic.

Today is a Palindrome

There’s something backward about this date:

Professor Aziz Inan has a passion for palindromes. There will be 12 dates this century that can be read in two directions; today’s is the second. The next palindromic date will be November 2, 2011.

The word quirky comes to mind; and I love it!

The Estonian station TV3 recreated the introduction to The Simpsons as though the show took place in an Estonian village.

I hope you attain all the things that matter the most to you this year. Get out of your comfort zone and win!

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2010 is the Year of the Tiger, which begins on February 14, 2010 and ends on February 2, 2011. The zodiac of twelve animal signs represents twelve different types of personality.

I can’t say I fully understand what the Chinese Zodiac means, but I like knowing numbers have significance outside of mathematics and that every year is governed by an animal.

My element is Fire and my sign happens to be Tiger. Choice. Fingers crossed this year for Work, Money, Travel and Tiger S, E, X! Deathmatch Sex. Only one may live…

Each of the 12 animals are:

Ricky Gervais Serenades Elmo With A Calming, Err, Terrifying Lullaby

•December 30, 2009 • Leave a Comment

One of the few things that keeps us watching Sesame Street well into our adult years is the constant parade of hilarious celebrity cameos interacting with our genteel muppet brethren. And the following clip is proof that this simple reason is all we need:

Comedian Ricky Gervais singing a “Celebrity Lullabye” to Elmo. Why? Because nothing makes us LOL more than watching muppets in discomfort – which seems to be the running theme with these lullabyes.

Merry Christmas All
