Hours earlier, someone had broken into (20-year old) John Pontolillo’s house and taken two laptops and a video-game console. Now it was past midnight, and he heard noises coming from the garage out back.
The Johns Hopkins University undergraduate didn’t run. He didn’t call the police. He grabbed his samurai sword.
With the 3- to 5-foot-long, razor-sharp weapon in hand, police say, Pontolillo crept toward the noise. He noticed a side door in the garage had been pried open. When a man inside lunged at him, police say, the confrontation was fatal.
I like this story. It isn’t about embarrassment, but about staying true to your friends. Unless your friends are dicks, which I’m guessing this isn’t the case. It was a pact that only a true friend would keep:

Death is a natural occurrence yes. When someone dies in the family it really brings that fact home. When a familiar icon or celebrity dies, it makes me feel like the world is changing. However these celebrities have left behind a legacy of work that the world can enjoy over and over again. Legacy; something many of us strive for. As sad as some might be over Mr Swayze’s death, shouldn’t we be celebrating his life. He died of Cancer but his death wasn’t in vein.
Patrick Swayze has died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Publicists for the actor have told the Associated Press the actor died today, aged 57.
Swayze had been fighting stage four of the cancer disease, which was diagnosed in January 2008.

The insect was found by 11-year-old Daniel Tate who thought it was a flower until he saw it jump and then he realised it was a grasshopper.
The insect was later identified by wildlife officers as an adult female common green grasshopper, which has been born pink.
Daniel, who attended the wildlife event at Seaton Marshes, near Sidmouth, Devon, with his great grandfather, said: “I was looking for grasshoppers when I saw something pink.

This reminds me of an article I was reading about Steve Crow; the soulless pornography importer/exporter of NZ, and how he wanted to donate money to the Breast Cancer Foundation. They turned him and his porno money down.
Many people applauded this action, yet there were some that had lost loved ones to cancer, that were truly upset by the foundation’s rebel-like selectiveness on behalf of people that would otherwise welcome help from wherever they can get it. Anyway…
