Secret Festival Projection

Not a huge fan of the heart motif, but what an awesome projection: Best part is the Pac Man and Pinball sequences at 3:30

We got invited along to do some video mapping projections at a secret festival in the North East of England. The theme and logo of the party was the heart. We spent a couple of weeks in the studio creating the show which opened the party.

Paranormal Activity [movie trailer]

The film has been getting rave reviews on horror blogs and is touted as the next Blair Witch Project; think shaky-cam scares at home:

After a young, middle class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban starter tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to.

Student Kills Intruder with Samurai Sword!

•September 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment

…After his PlayStation and Laptops were stolen, of course… Although, It’s not justified to kill a man over a stolen ps3 and laptops. However, it is justified to kill a man who lunges at you while you fear for the safety of your life or the lives of others.

You don’t know if the guy has a concealed gun or what, and you really don’t want to play that game I guess.

Besides, the intruder was a repeat offender, released from prison last Saturday. “49-year old Donald Rice died of his injuries.  Rice had 29 prior convictions for breaking and entering.”

It is legal to possess a sword in Baltimore, Guglielmi said, and “individuals have a right to defend their person and their property.”

He declined to comment on whether its use in this case was appropriate.

Hours earlier, someone had broken into (20-year old) John Pontolillo’s house and taken two laptops and a video-game console. Now it was past midnight, and he heard noises coming from the garage out back.

The Johns Hopkins University undergraduate didn’t run. He didn’t call the police. He grabbed his samurai sword.

With the 3- to 5-foot-long, razor-sharp weapon in hand, police say, Pontolillo crept toward the noise. He noticed a side door in the garage had been pried open. When a man inside lunged at him, police say, the confrontation was fatal.

Funeral Dress Pact

I like this story. It isn’t about embarrassment, but about staying true to your friends. Unless your friends are dicks, which I’m guessing this isn’t the case. It was a pact that only a true friend would keep:

Barry Delaney - The best friend of a soldier killed in Afghanistan has come through on an agreement they made by wearing a green dress and pink leg warmers to his funeral

Two British soldiers, Barry Delaney and Kevin Elliot had made a promise to each other. If either of them were to die at war, the other had to attend his funeral wearing a dress. Kevin Elliot was killed in Afghanistan. As a true friend, Barry Delaney kept their promise and arrived at the funeral wearing a lime green dress, hot pink socks, and boots.

I was shown this video in the weekend and it totally blew my mind. It doesn’t make any sense but for some reason I found a lot of humour in how cool the phenomenal art direction was/is:

Absolute Dream Logic, I love it!

R.I.P. Patrick Wayne Swayze 1952-2009‎

Death is a natural occurrence yes. When someone dies in the family it really brings that fact home. When a familiar icon or celebrity dies, it makes me feel like the world is changing. However these celebrities have left behind a legacy of work that the world can enjoy over and over again. Legacy; something many of us strive for. As sad as some might be over Mr Swayze’s death, shouldn’t we be celebrating his life. He died of Cancer but his death wasn’t in vein.

Patrick Swayze has died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Publicists for the actor have told the Associated Press the actor died today, aged 57.

Swayze had been fighting stage four of the cancer disease, which was diagnosed in January 2008.

Things The 80’s Child Shouldn’t Have Thrown Out

I saw the picture of those Slap Bracelets and knew exactly what Mary from FashionVictims blog meant by the word “Shouldn’t”:

Slap Bracelets are awesome and I wish I still had mine!

They were popular among pre-teens and teens in the late 80’s but were eventually banned from schools after many students suffered wrist injuries. Now that enough time has elapsed and people have forgotten the potential dangers of arm jewelry that once splayed open a kid’s artery, slap bracelets are back!

This is a neat article about stuff we might have owned as a child but forgot about, and your parents were more than happy to make the world forget.

…WALKMANS!!! My happy thought, I remember I had one! Darn it…

Insane in the Membrane – Michigan mother finds her long lost son, rapes him…

•September 14, 2009 • Leave a Comment

The title pretty much explains itself.

35-year-old mother, Aimee Louise Sword [cool name] of Waterford Township, near Detroit, used the Internet to track down the son she gave up for adoption a decade ago, seducing and raping the teenage boy when she found him. Craaazzzy …In her defense, she is pretty MILFtastic… (cough cough)

Aimee Louise Sword, 35, has been charged with criminal sexual conduct for the alleged rape of her son, a minor living in Michigan.

Prosecutors say the boy is still a minor, but won’t disclose whether he knew the woman was his mother — a situation that has horrified mental health experts who are calling the case “an abomination.”

I don’t think I’ve heard of another case like this in my career,” said Dr. Gerald Shiener, chief of Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit.

Our first reaction to hearing about something like this is that this is every man’s nightmare. It’s an abomination,” he told MyFOXDetroit.

“I’m at a loss for words because it’s something that we consider to be so out of the normal, so prohibited in every culture that it unnerves every man just to think about it.”

Here’s the best part:

Sword herself has spoken since she first was arrested, writing on her MySpace page that she was inspired by rapper and former jailbird Lil’ Kim because “she rises during the worst of obstacles.”

Ha, Fuck Sword. Her son on the other hand, I feel for:

This could be his first sexual experience, and his first sexual experience could be something so conflicted, so unusual, so prohibited that it will stay with him for life,” Shiener said.
