#LIVINGOFFTHEWALL: Dallas Clayton — “Dream Big!”

•November 13, 2014 • Leave a Comment

Dallas Clayton couldn’t find an illustrator to help with the kids’ books he had dancing in his head, so he drew everything himself. When his first book was turned down by numerous publishing houses, he self-published and sold more copies of the book than he could have imagined. Dallas soon realized that sometimes all you have to do is dream big:

Documentarian: Han Su Kim // Music by Augustine Detar

Vans #LIVINGOFFTHEWALL Documentary Series was launched early in 2014 to progress that dedication enlisting some of their favorite story-tellers to share the people, places and things that best illustrate such commitment to originality. Using words, images and motion pictures, #LIVINGOFFTHEWALL is a testament to the power of our global imagination, as explored through all tools of the creative trade.

Jedi Youngling, Sariah Gallego, Joins the Dark Side (Star Wars at Disney Land)

My sis mentioned this adorably funny video that I had to see for myself — Sariah, chosen to join the Jedi Academy, ultimately decides to bow before Darth Vader and surrender to the Dark Side:

I’d say she knew.

I think enjoyment is precious because it does not last, but with hurt and sadness, they linger in the mind long enough so we can discover it.

The Smashing Pumpkins “One and All” from new LP

I used to adore The Smashing Pumpkins (1988-2000), but Billy Corgan’s new material hasn’t really inspired the same adoration from me. Corgan is talented, no one denies that, I just wish he was talented enough to come up with another band name. Having said, and gotten that belated chip off my shoulder; “One and All” is great.

Installed earlier this month off the coast of New Providence, in the Bahamas, “Ocean Atlas” by Jason deCaires Taylor depicts a young Bahamian girl carrying the weight of the seas on her shoulders. It is the largest sculpture ever deployed underwater and is built from special concrete that promotes the growth of coral and marine life in an attempt to draw diving tourists away from more sensitive areas nearby:

Cats Stuck In Things

Although I am not one to freakout over exams, I do seem to be procrastinating an awful lot. …I spent over half an hour today looking for pictures of cats stuck in things:

A Slinky

A Hamster Wheel

5

A Hose

You know how many readings I have to do? If cat related pictures are the epitome of procrastination, and you are looking at them; then as far as exams are concerned; thou art fucked.
