You Can Write a Story With Neil Gaiman on Twitter!
This man may have just triggered a multiple universe.
Ever dreamed of collaborating on a story with Neil Gaiman? Today, you’ll get your chance as Gaiman launches an experiment to create an original story using the collaborative power of Twitter.
Contribute to the story with your own tweets (all tweets must include @BBCAA and #bbcawdio, cutting into those precious 140 characters). Once the tale reaches 1000 tweets, the BBC editors will edit it into a (hopefully) coherent story. An audio version of the story will be made available in the iTunes store for free.
Yeah, I thought it sounded cool too.
Could be a beautiful disaster, could be an exercise in madness. It’s a toss-up. But either way it should be fun.
I’m gonna go with madness on that one. Here is why: after engrossing myself in the puzzle that is this Twitter, story experiment project, I can no longer keep up with the mass convulsion of tweets per minute. Plus my internet is sooo slow (cheap living).
So I thought I’d post my conclusion to what I’ve read so far to a story not yet finished, let alone half way done:
Sam finds a colourful finger painting beneath her feet. “I drew this when I was little.” @BBCAA #bbcawdio
“A family portrait. We all look like puppets.” Another loud CRACK echoes around her. @BBCAA #bbcawdio
Splinters of darkness and light collide around Sam. “What’s happening?” @BBCAA #bbcawdio
“You are finally coming to grips with reality” the puppet replies in an elegant tone. @BBCAA #bbcawdio
“What will happen to me?” Sam YELLS over the earth shattering sounds. “We will see.” Darkness shrouds Sam once more. @BBCAA #bbcawdio
“I always was a tomboy of a child” The puppet from the finger painting was Sam’s conception of herself. @BBCAA #bbcawdio
Not such a flattering image to her mirror reflection. Although those were the days her mother loved her most. @BBCAA #bbcawdio
FADE. Her vision blurred; Sam wipes away her tears and the misty vapour condensed on the mirror plane before her. @BBCAA #bbcawdio
“I don’t love you anymore.” Sam stares at her mother submerged in the bathtub behind her. @BBCAA #bbcawdio
Glad walls, and mirrors for that matter cannot talk; Sam picks up the brush and runs it through her hair. @BBCAA #bbcawdio

…I guess this proves I need to get out of the house more huh?
