$10 from JB’s!!! GO GET IT NOW!
I saw this film at Auckland’s 40th International Film Festival last year and it was an awesome viewing pleasure. To this day I regard it as my favourite all time documentary. It truly is a great story, told with great consideration toward the gaming community.
Hilarious, sad, sour grapes and dramatic moments aplenty, and it’s about games — Epic!
Diehard video game fans compete to break World Records on classic arcade games. Namely, Donkey Kong!
Who knew a documentary on a bunch of grown men fighting over who’s the best classic arcade game player could be so entertaining? The King of Kong was easily one of the best documentaries I’ve seen. It chronicles the back and forth battle between reigning Donkey Kong champ (and egomaniac) Billy Mitchell and newcomer Steve Weibe who’s looking to get his name entered into the record books.
Go behind the barrels as the two men battle it out in a vicious war to earn the title of the true King of Kong:
Trust me; this film definitely lives up to the trailer.
[…] Steve Wiebe, featured in the acclaimed documentary “The King of Kong“, has reclaimed the world record high score for Donkey Kong Jr. after briefly surrendering it […]
Just finished watching this film, it was very well done, it had it’s ups and downs as you said and overall it seemed well worth watching, I wanna play all the old 80’s video games again now too..damn you -_-
