CCAD Students Create Interactive ‘Mario’ Mural [street art]
•September 8, 2010 • Leave a CommentA team of students at the Columbus College of Art & Design painted a mural of Super Marios Bros, and it really is super:
The interactive mural is 16 feet tall, 38 feet wide and took 12 students 8 days to create. It is visible on CCAD’s administration building located at 107 N. Ninth Street for the month of September.
CCAD student and fellow painter Ken Aschliman says the mural was created to advertise CCAD’s inaugural Town Hall meeting. CCAD’s student government group says the Town Hall meeting will be the first of many events where students can voice their concerns and have questions answered.
The student painters include Aschliman, Chavilah Bennett, Jennifer Sands, Michael Smith, Dion Utt, Walker Crane, Greg Reyes, Dillon Sirimongkhon, Alex Trimpe, Pallavi Sen, Jessica Braunschweiger and Emily Rickard.
Students and groups can propose to paint a new mural every month to be placed on the mural wall.
I’d much rather take a photo here than at any skytower for sure. This = Awesome!!!

Mario Kart Power-Ups Painted on Road [street art]
•September 5, 2010 • Leave a CommentSome cool person has gone and painted bananas on this street. A bike lane video game – Maybe this will encourage more young people to go biking …or just eat more bananas:
From bananas to mushrooms to stars – one of Portland’s bike lanes is looking more like a race track on Nintendo’s Mario Kart game.
The news anchor surprisingly gets all the power ups correct.
Apparently though raindrops on paint are deadly for cyclists, and for motorcyclists. So let’s hope this good-natured vandal has been eating his stars in the morning.
FM Belfast “Underwear” [music video]
•August 28, 2010 • Leave a CommentSimply awesome! This is exactly the type of cool music video art that I hardly ever see on the telly. It’s a fact that we are all naturally intrigued by human movement, so it’s nice to see a video of people having fun — or was this just extremely fun to watch?

Video for Icelandic music group FM Belfast’s song Underwear:

•August 26, 2010 • Leave a CommentMr home shopping host can’t think for himself and reads the teleprompter raving about a picture taken using the camera that he’s selling. Pretty sure his pitch only led viewers to think that there’s something wrong with the device (and/or him):
Star Wars Yoga Positions
•August 26, 2010 • Leave a CommentNerds don’t do yoga, do they? Mock-ups by Matthew Latkiewicz and he totally nails it:
Nice, but I’ll wait for the Star Wars Kama Sutra 😉
I don’t want to believe this… Director Satoshi Kon has died at age 47
•August 25, 2010 • Leave a CommentI love all of Satoshi Kon’s work. He was a great storyteller and one of my favourite filmmakers. Satoshi Kon definitely had talent and true genius. You will be missed.
Gainax employee Takeda Yasuhiro tweeted the news a short time ago, and it was confirmed by Madhouse’s Masao Maruyama via the Otakon committee.
R.I.P. Satoshi Kon
Homemade ‘Fallout 3’ Replica Rifles by Ryan Palser – these are AWESOME! [DIY]
•August 25, 2010 • Leave a CommentFrak these are awesome; replicas from Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG shooter (one of my favs) Fallout 3!!!
The A3-21 plasma rifle and the AER3 Laser Rifle – The ammunition is still in production, so there’s no chance of killing any wasteland freaks with these babies, but they may provide a good conversation starter to persuade your attackers into running away scared for dear life.
“Built it from scratch, using mostly wood and sheet plastic. It’s an amazing design, and was a great learning experience. Being the first “realistic” prop that I’ve attempted, I’m pretty stoked about the final result.”
