Vincent Price reading Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven” – Happy Halloween

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, as of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door…

No Halloween is complete without a proper reading of “The Raven”

“The Raven” Written by Edgar Allen Poe / Performed by Vincent Price / Directed by Johnny Thompson

Poe’s classic tale of loss and grief can also be heard interpreted by Christopher Walken

Spent Halloween in a skatepark with some kids dressed as emos; and my best friend’s mother, hehe. Movie time now!

Great song. I can’t put my finger on it, but many female artists bring out a song that just sounds special. Then I buy the album.

STAR WARS: Uncut IS HERE!!! [trailer]

Achuta, this is totally wizard! I think the fact the original sound effects and musical score is being used, makes this whole thing awesomly worth it. I’m digging the animations too:

Star Wars: Uncut gives fans a chance to retell A New Hope; the movie will be split into 15 second scenes in 472 clips, likely of varying quality, but all better than Phantom Menace.

The project now consists of 399 finished 15 second clips, viewable here.

Pop Veteran, Morrissey from The Smiths, Collapses

Steven Patrick Morrissey

British singer (Steven Patrick Morrissey) Morrissey was taken to hospital after collapsing on stage yesterday with breathing problems. The 50-year-old former frontman of 1980s pop band The Smiths fell ill while performing in Swindon, southwest England. Ambulance staff said his condition was not life-threatening.

The only reason I watched Charmed, was because of the catchy theme song “How Soon Is Now?”, originally performed by The Smiths but covered by Love Split Love (for The Craft I think)

…Maybe Alyssa Milano, Shannen Doherty and Rose McGowan had something to do with it…

The Smiths are Great! Listen to their lyrics sometime

Best Halloween Costume I’ve Seen So Far

This costume is a well-thought-out peice of work. It’s obvious that it’s based upon the Transformers, but just watch him transform:

Cheers Conrad for the link, who once upon a time was the ruler of both Decepticons and Autobots.

Blood, Drugs, Wheels and Film [W I N G M A N: Status Update]

I’ve never felt like cracking a guy to the ground, ever. But today me and my friends went to a skate park to practice and get a couple of shots filmed and out-of-the-way, when the ugliest mother fucker “from Mangere, 275 don’t forget, what you up to, film some bitches, crips, what you up to’ started rambling on about nothing to me.

If anyone deserved a smack upside the head, it was this guy. I’m sure he was stepping, and I’m sure he was on crack; or just really fucked in the head. Total buzz kill. He should consider himself lucky. Seriously.

From there we went to another skate park where these kids, no older than 10, were carving it up in the bowl. I cracked a joke then tried to copy them. Hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Well… I fucked up, BIG TIME. Cut my arm, hip and hands. Felt good though… Weird.

Fin's New Battle Scars

No pain no gain. If there was an award for best, worst bail of the year, I’d be up for a nomination.

Zo took over filming from there. Good job Zo, you got some nice shots.

Anyway, I’m finishing the day with a peanut butter & banana sandwich and a hot bath. Ooohhh.

Thanks guys with the flashing lights 🙂

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters

$10 from JB’s!!! GO GET IT NOW!

Only $10 and well worth every... quarter

I saw this film at Auckland’s 40th International Film Festival last year and it was an awesome viewing pleasure. To this day I regard it as my favourite all time documentary. It truly is a great story, told with great consideration toward the gaming community.

Hilarious, sad, sour grapes and dramatic moments aplenty, and it’s about games — Epic!

Billy Mitchell and Steve Sanders (far left)

Diehard video game fans compete to break World Records on classic arcade games. Namely, Donkey Kong!

Who knew a documentary on a bunch of grown men fighting over who’s the best classic arcade game player could be so entertaining? The King of Kong was easily one of the best documentaries I’ve seen. It chronicles the back and forth battle between reigning Donkey Kong champ (and egomaniac) Billy Mitchell and newcomer Steve Weibe who’s looking to get his name entered into the record books.

Steve Wiebe

Go behind the barrels as the two men battle it out in a vicious war to earn the title of the true King of Kong:

Trust me; this film definitely lives up to the trailer.

Sony unveils a Prototype 3D 360 Display Device

•October 24, 2009 • Leave a Comment

OOoAHh! Today Sony unveiled a prototype of a 3D 360 degree display that can show 3D objects at all angles around the device. Sony’s keeping details under wraps, and hasn’t explained how it works, for now.

The display offers an impressive image and doesn’t require glasses. It’s just a prototype now.

The cylindrical display case is 27 cm tall with a base of 13 cm in diameter, and features a 96 by 128-pixel resolution that looks better than might be expected. The screen displays 3D objects including a cartoon character, car, globe, and people.

Sony created these objects either in 3D on a computer or by taking photographs of them from various angles. The result is that the objects appear to have depth, and can be viewed from any angle on the horizontal plane by walking around the display screen.

That’s a Big Twinkie – Ghostbusters Multi-Track Beatbox

I must admit, I totally got into it from the chorus on!

It’s little videos like this that actually get me excited for Halloween. Normally I hate beat-boxing, but this little Ghostbusters remake has some high quality multi-tracking.

Matt Mulholland performs Ghostbusters theme in 14part harmony.
