STAR TREK [TVspot]

Sweeeeet, but “Forget everything you know” …In regards to what exactly? I get this movie is going to reboot the series, but that’s a silly slogan. A quarter of the reason this movie is going to kickass is because of comparison, and I refuse to forget everything I know!

…I’m making a spiel over nothing. I just wanna see this movie sooo bad.

Holi – The Festival of Colors

•April 5, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Photos like these make me feel good.

On March 11th, people in India and other countries with large Hindu populations celebrated Holi, the Festival of Colors.

Holi is celebrated as a welcoming of Spring, and a celebration of the triumph of good over evil. What that translates to in action is an enthusiastic dropping of inhibitions, as people chase each other and playfully splash colorful paint, powder and water on each other.

People also attend bonfires to commemorate the story of Prahlada, a Hindu figure and devout follower of Lord Vishnu who prevailed over his father and the demoness Holika with the power of his devotion. Collected here are photos from this year’s Festival of Colors.

Way Cool

Contrail – Every Bike Should Be Fitted With One of These

Anything that brings colour to the world is always going to be received well, and oh-so totally cool!

"skittle bikes" photo by Jessi Pervola

“Contrail is a tool for developing bicycle communities,” and is the device that attaches on the wheel of a bike that applies a thin layer of coloured chalk to the bike’s tire:

The Contrail device

“As you ride, contrail leaves a faint chalk line behind your bike. The goal is to encourage a new cycle of biking participation by allowing the biking community to leave a unique mark on the road and to reclaim this crucial shared space.”

Meet Dave, The rapping flight attendant. I found his pre-departure rap to be rather corny; mind you, I’m sitting on a raggedy wooden chair in a dark, damp rumpus room.

Baa Baa LED Sheep

•March 21, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Have you ever seen sheep play pong?

“We took to the hills of Wales armed to the teeth with sheep, LEDs and a camera, to create a huge amazing LED display. Of sorts.”

Extreme Sheep LED Art; yes, it truly is insane as it sounds, as they do everything from play pong to paint the Mona Lisa.

You know… Sheep is the fruit of the land. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautee it. There’s, um, sheep kebabs, sheep creole, sheep gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir fried. There’s pineapple sheep and lemon sheep, coconut sheep, pepper sheep, sheep soup, sheep stew, sheep salad, sheep and potatoes, sheep burger, sheep sandwich… That’s, that’s about it.

Mmm I’m telling you, us Kiwis love a good sheep.

Incredible Experiment Reaches The Stratosphere

Using a $77 Nikon Coolpix and a $60 latex balloon filled with helium, a team of Spanish teenage scientists captured these remarkable shots from 20 miles above the Earth’s surface.

Preparing the camera, a Nikon Coolpix L10, for the flight and automated picture-taking.

The Nikon camera, now wrapped in a lightweight protective foam shell.

Very early on the morning of launch, readying the receiving stations which will track the progress and status of the probe.

Last-minute adjustments made to cords on the probe right before launch.

Inflating the latex balloon with helium, the longest part of the launch preparation, using 75% of the helium from the container at right.

One of the first photos from the flight, of farmland in the town of Bujaraloz, Spain.

Proving that you don’t need Google’s billions or the BBC weather centre’s resources, the four Spanish students managed to send their camera-operated weather balloon into the stratosphere.

The students were able to recover the package that landed about 6 miles from the launch site., but it was only after they tentatively extracted the SD card sitting safely inside that they discovered the fantastic fruits of their labor.

The probe, as it was discovered by the team, right next to a path.
They quickly removed the camera’s SD card to discover the photos above.

The Team

This is the moment just after the probe back and have noticed that everything had gone well.
Teacher – Jordi Fanals Oriol and students – Gerard Marull Paretas, Marta Gasull Morcillo, Jaume Puigmiquel Casamort and Sergi Saballs Vila.

Team leader Gerard Marull, 18, said: “We were overwhelmed at our results, especially the photographs, to send our handmade craft to the edge of space is incredible.”

Doggy-Style

•March 20, 2009 • 3 Comments

Michelle Owen [24] felt suspicious of her boyfriend and decided to take her laptop to the police to find out whether he had any kiddy porn on the computer. Instead, they found video of her fucking her dog and arrested her…

…Ummm

KIDDY PORN DOG FUCK BACKFIRE FAIL!!!ouch

Michelle Owen

Concerned that an ex-boyfriend had used her laptop to search for child pornography, the Indiana woman asked police to search the computer for illegal images, but had her plan backfire when cops discovered two videos of her engaged in illicit acts with a dog.

Owen, 24, was charged last week with two felony bestiality counts in connection with the video files, which a detective found in the laptop’s “recycle bin.” At the time Owen asked cops to search the computer, she was locked up in the Johnson County Jail on a public intoxication charge (which violated the terms of her release in a prior drunk driving case).

According to a police affidavit, a cop told Owen that he had found videos of her on the laptop and asked if she “knew what those files might be.”

Owen [pictured above] replied, “The one with the dog.”

Cops believe that the dog in question, Toby, is a beagle.

After asking if she was “going to be charged with this,” Owen said that the videos “were just something she did when she was drunk and barely remembers it,” adding that she tried to “delete them the next day when she was sober.”

Is this what the average dogfucker looks like?
I can’t get a girlfriend and she’s humping Toby the beagle!

TRUE BLOOD is Sweet

•March 19, 2009 • 1 Comment

Only by chance did I manage to catch the first episode of True Blood last night, and I gotta say, I liked it!

This photo was taken here in Auckland, New Zealand [where the series has just begun], and is [obviously] the marketing campaign for True Blood – And a cool one at that:

True Blood in New Zealand

“They’re made of wood, and the stakes are designed to snap off in case a vampire attacks. They’re screwed down though, which makes them safer but rather counterproductive.”

New Zealand actress, Anna Paquin plays a pretty cool character – a bar waitress with psychic abilities, and she totally dominates the show. There was a cheesy, graphic vampire sex scene with jiggling boobs, a hilarious irate black woman and people even said the F and C words. hehe

The “Prime” channel is free to air here, so they don’t censor anything. Sweet huh.
