Metal Angels and Morphing Ghosts
The wind is strong and the sound is louder than most

I have only ever been on a plane once
Since childhood I have wished to fly away

I can see faces in the clouds above
I know I’m going to join them one day

Life Choices

•November 2, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I haven’t had a job in a long, long while and just today I have been… ‘Recommended’ to consider joining one of the civil services.

Either, I lack compassion about my [unknown] future; perfectly happy drifting and doing whatever comes my way [believing/imagining that things will work out]; or I can’t think of any good reason not to consider signing my life away for a time being.

Good money. Hard work. World travel.  My grandfather who passed away before I was born was in the force. I’d learn more about myself and have something more interesting to base this Blog on…

I need a sign, several, or the ability to look into the future -whichever.

…I don’t know…

Can I keep my Afro?

Maybe I should talk to this guy: Sean Aiken

Star-Studded ‘Vote’ commercial (America of course)

And…

Here are some delightful comments:

The soldier asking people to vote made me feel so sad. I can’t imagine the awful things he’s seen and gone through. Hope this time everything goes well for us all. Peace!

lol, infinitely better and less pompous than the first one.

TOOLS

I hear you. Millionaires who don’t have to get up in the morning and listen to some asshole tell them to move faster or their fired.

Go screw yourselves, Hollywood. You patronizing assholes!

They go too far with the “don’t vote” and some people may stop the video before they get half way through.

This ad campaign is stupid and I think they could have used their power as celebrities with a better campaign and get more people to vote. Instead they justify degrading and belittling people whilst big noting themselves and justify it by saying it is humorous and aimed at creating controversy in effort of getting more people involved. What a load of rubbish. Crap ad campaign. PS. Tom cruise is a loser.

Regardless of whether they’re “celebrities” or whether we ‘should’ be listening to them or not, they have a point.

Movie stars should just zip the lip. They don’t live in the real world.

I hot Natalie Portman.

FORBIDDEN PLANET

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I can forgive The day the earth stood still” remake and Keanu Reeves but mostly because he is starring alongside Jennifer Connelly. I can forgive a “Robocop” remake because anything involving cybernetic organisms is likely to be cool, and I can also even forgive all the bastards that rumoured a “BladeRunner2.”

But this… This is FORBIDDEN!!!

Forbidden Planet (1956 SF Classic), the sci-fi version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, is getting the Hollywood makeover treatment, courtesy of Babylon 5’s J. Michael Straczynski and producer Joel Silver.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Straczynski – currently hot again in Hollywood thanks to his script for Clint Eastwood’s Changeling, after semi-retreating into comic book work like Amazing Spider-Man and Thor -is scripting the project for Joel Silver’s Silver Pictures. This isn’t the first attempt to remake the 1956 classic, however; Forbidden Planet has been passed around from studio to studio and director to director for years, having been a potential project for The Chronicles of Riddick’s director David Twohy and James Cameron, amongst others.

No word, yet, on who would direct this version.

Forbidden Planet also features an eerie “score” that is the first film to use electronic sounds instead of a musical score. It is an excellent movie and certainly a classic of its time.

Purple Tomatoes

•October 29, 2008 • Leave a Comment

A European group of researchers have successfully expressed genes from the Snapdragon flower in tomatoes, resulting to deep-purple colored tomatoes with unprecedentedly high anthocyanin content at concentrations comparable to the anthocyanin levels found in blackberries and blueberries.

The expression of the two transgenes increased the hydrophilic antioxidant capacity of tomato fruit threefold and a pilot animal study demonstrated that cancer-susceptible Trp53-/- mice fed a diet supplemented with the high-anthocyanin tomatoes showed a significant extension of life span.

Let me get this straight: Europe gets a sexy-lady in purple lingerie fishnet stockings vinyl corset and stilettos, and us kiwis get a Gorilla (the antonym to a sexy-lady in lingerie) playing drums to Phil Collins – In the Air Tonight!!!

This might be a contributing factor to why I choose to consume Whitakers Chocolate.

Times have changed for the Wassup guys since we first met them eight years ago…… here’s a reminder of how they were back then:

And now:

There’s a tragic-comic political message here and they’re using their quintessential/novelty advert to encourage a good cause.

MapleStory is said to be the world’s first side-scrolling online multiplayer role-playing game and Mapleglobal is built for players mainly outside of Europe, Southeast Asia and East Asia. [Over 50 million… yikes]

Hmm, I don’t think the punishment fits the crime: come’on Japan, and all over such a teabag-ass game as well. Ever heard of FarCry?
