Birds Made of Flower Petals by Hong Yi (Red)

Known for creating images using numerous objects (and playing with her food), Red‘s work is extremely simple yet effective. In her new series, Red has meticulously plucked the petals of pretty flowers to reform them in the image of exotic birds in all their colourful glory:

Northern cardinal made of red gerberas and deep purple chrysanthemums with dill.

Hornbill made of chrysanthemums, germeras and purple shamrocks.

Kingfisher made of gerberas, butterfly peas and purple shamrocks.

Peacock made from butterfly pea flowers, bottlebrush leaves, coconut leaf sticks, alamandas – trumpet flowers.

Behind the scenes – eagle piece.

Eagle made of white, maroon and yellow chrysanthemums.

Flamingos made from pink gerberas and twigs.

Dodo made from white, pink and orange chrysanthemum flowers.

Rooster made from gerberas and leaves.
