Would You Wear These on Your Feet?

I designed them myself. Well, technically all I really did was change the colour scheme on the shoe’s various features. I like the idea in any case and can see consumer customizations becoming a major deal for designer labels in the near future. I’d also like the option to set the price too, but somehow I don’t think Nike is going to take that into consideration. Fancy buying a new pair of shoes but can’t decide on a look? Try create your own pair after the image links below:

Feel free to buy a pair 😛 I call them Fin Darks.

Here is a funny musical short film made by Nike. It’s a clever commercial, although I can’t help but feel that the underlying relationship between the two runners will far out live the Nike brand name and whatever it was they were promoting at the time (most likely it was a shoe, Fin). Yep, I’d run for love too.

St. Lucia “Elevate”

This song will make it on all my playlists this summer:

Pretty sweet amalgamation of sounds towards the end there, I just wish the brass wind instruments were louder on the mix. But yeah, “Elevate” emanates a damn fine feel good vibe.

What makes you different makes you beautiful ❤ Don’t let the bullshit of today convince you otherwise.

LA FEMME — “Hypsoline” [music video]

•October 31, 2013 • Leave a Comment

LaFemme..

French psyche-punk rock band La Femme made a wicked cool music video/short film to accompany Hypsoline’s hypnotic sound. I’m loving it, and the Parisian six piece’s sense of visual aesthetic really makes the video’s spooky ambiance pop with colour and style:

La Femme – Hypsolinein - 1 La Femme – Hypsolinein - 2 La Femme – Hypsolinein - 3 La Femme – Hypsolinein - 5 La Femme – Hypsolinein - 7 La Femme – Hypsolinein - 9

I want more, La Femme!

Extremely Cringeworthy University Music Video

‘There’s loads for you to do at LSU!,’ so proclaim these energetic, poor impressionable students. I wont lie; this is one of the best shit things I’ve seen, and I didn’t think it would but it got progressively better [sic] after the catchy chorus-line. I know this video is being viewed out of context, but it really can’t have been much better in it. Prepare to have your time wasted:

Apparently the Loughborough University students’ union made this in the hopes it would boost its event and meetings attendance, but that plan backfired as the viral video became branded as one of the worst videos ever posted on YouTube, which is a pretty soul-destroying criticism considering there is nothing that remotely compares to the amount of uploads the site handles on an hourly basis. Not only was the feedback so bad that the Loughborough Union disabled the comments section, but the record label, Virgin EMI have disabled the audio track, permanently muting the video indefinitely. Ouch.

Thank goodness for those actor release forms, eh LSU? These scared execs should come out of ‘Ellellelless eleleleleless-u’ stronger and less stupidly enthusiastic about their singing abilities at least — it’s a good thing. Possibly… I wonder if the editor is out of rehab yet?

Final Exams Next Week and I Am Unprepared …I Think

•October 29, 2013 • Leave a Comment

I have two exams next week and two more the week after. I learnt stuff, for sure, but I’m not confident in my ability to concisely articulate my learning’s through freehand writing without the luxury of the revision process. I do not like examinations, period.

No, that can’t be the real reason why I’m hating this pre-exam vibe leading up to the exams. There were a few course readings, lectures and tutorials I just plain neglected. I feel like an idiot now, which I don’t like, only I’m thinking whether this is the point of this whole exam period, considering that being a dunce means having an incapacity to learn, and I am suffering from a mental deficiency of having no way of knowing what the exam questions are going to be, so maybe I shouldn’t worry about not knowing, you know, because it’s the knowledge of the exam that’s inducing this state of mind. Therefore, my actions could never have preempted me from feeling the way I do right now; this feeling was inevitable and serves a purpose. I suppose all I’m meant to gain during this period is a sense of encouragement to study. Hmm…Or would acknowledging that my idiocy is a repercussion of the institution and not my actions be counterproductive to my studying towards answering the intentionally undisclosed exam questions? Back to square one again, Fin. Seriously, who the heck likes exams? DAMN YOU EXAMS!!! You’re going to make a fool out of me! By making me, knowledgeable… 😕 Well at least I’m smart enough to recognize my own dumbness. Do they give marks for that?

The Hill Valley Project – Someone Reenacting Back To The Future On Twitter

Happening right now is a real-time twitter reading of BACK TO THE FUTURE. Considering someone had to create over 50 separate twitter accounts to make this work is quite impressive, obsessive, but impressive:

Hmm, not sure if this calls for popcorn or not?

Rattle Ya Dags – BE YOURSELF!!!

•October 24, 2013 • Leave a Comment

RattleyaDags has an awesome assortment of interesting and inspirational tidbits from some of New Zealand’s most positive role models. I came across this YouTube page totally by chance, and I’m a little angry about that. Was this even promoted anywhere, but more importantly, why did it stop?! I think it’s so cool and a great medium for connecting the Kiwi youth with familiar and influential, positive kiwi thinkers:

Ladi6 (Karoline Tamati) is New Zealand’s premiere vocalist MC, renowned for her energetic live performances, sublime soulful vocals and conscious lyrics. Ladi6 started her musical career as part of New Zealand’s first all-girl hip-hop group Sheelahroc, who supported international acts including The Roots, De La Soul and 50 Cent.

P Digsss (Paora Apera) is the vocalist for drum and bass act Shapeshifter. Shapeshifter have been heralded as a musical phenomenon for their ground breaking live shows and unique blend of heavy soul/drum and bass. The popular act have recently released their fourth studio album, The System Is A Vampire, to critical and commercial success.

Nick Dwyer is a writer, broadcaster and TV presenter. He’s been on music TV presenting on Max TV, Juice TV, M2 and C4. A respected music journalist, Nick also wrote, presented and co-directed music travel series Making Tracks. He has been on the radio for 15 years and currently hosts the breakfast show on George FM.

Shavaughn has been a fixture on television screens, both here and overseas, since she was 18. After finding fame on kiwi kids institution What Now, Shavaughn moved to the UK where she was one of the hosts of Saturday morning TV show SMTV LIVE.

Both Clarke Gayford (MORE FM, The Edge, Channel Z, C4, George FM) and Matt Gibb (U live, STUDIO 2, Squirt) are youth personalities in their own right, who above all else both have positive attitudes and helpful advice.

Danielle Cormack hit our screens on television soaps Gloss and Shortland Street, and has gone on to star in dozens of films, TV dramas and stage productions making her one of New Zealand’s most respected and well-known actors. She recently appeared in the Australian television drama Wentworth.

Jeremy Elwood is an award-winning stand up comedian who has garnered critical and popular acclaim for his no-holds-barred style, and intelligent, relevant material. He can be seen regularly at The Classic comedy club, writes the popular Political Animal blog for 3news.co.nz and appears on comedy series 7Days.

Bring this back! These are awesome and if I had a monogamous attention span I suppose I could post one of these videos everyday. I’m not going to do that.

STOP Lucky Charms in China / Live Animals Being Sold as Keychains

•October 22, 2013 • Leave a Comment

I didn’t even know this was a thing before a friend PM’d me the petition page:

STOP Lucky Charms in China - Live Animals Being Sold ss Keychains

Animals living under plastic containing a liquid nutrient and oxygen that allows them to live up to 2 months is a new fashion jewelry craze in China. Pretty morbid, right? Monetising death. Come on China, there are some things that you do that bring a laugh, this isn’t one of them. How we treat the natural world is important and says a lot about our humanity. This is sick and cruel, not cute. Sign the petition please, it is as easy as typing, literally.

Acknowledge it or not, you surfer, are a part of an international community that can help appeal to UN and the Chinese government to condemn this ridiculous nonsense. I don’t want to see this catching on if you know what I mean:

Yes, there’s a Simpsons pic for everything.
