Luigi has been painted as somewhat of a badass of the Nintendo universe recently, ever since gamers noticed his mean glare in Mario Kart™ 8 for Wii U, released last year:
And by painted, I mean plenty of parodies:
That’s a lot of shade to be throwing in a friendly kart race. This next clip however is the most hilarious Mario Kart mash-up parody that can be found on the net:
Gaston Velle (1868-1953) was a French silent film director and pioneer of special effects, who was prominent in early French and Italian cinema during the first two decades of the 20th century.
A friend recommend I give “Le Gouffre” a watch, and it caught me off guard. This impressive animation has its own unique style and an equally inspiring tale to match. I can’t say much without giving away the plot, but I ultimately thought it was nice. My favourite thing about this is how the entire story is told without the use of any dialogue — I absolutely love this method of storytelling.
Watch, as two spirited travelers come across an incredibly wide chasm on their journey and decide to build a bridge to cross it:
Friendship, sacrifice and conquering the impossible are a few of the story elements that have earned “Le Gouffre” it’s well deserved accolades; story elements that many debut animations showcasing new talent, fail to harness. As of now, “Le Gouffre” has been selected in more than 40 festivals around the world and won six awards, three of them for “Best Animated Short”. Here’s a brief behind-the-scenes look at the making of:
Yesterday, while walking along the gates of Albert Park, I spotted a shiny object in the corner of my eye; sweethearts had left behind a love lock. I would say happy Valentine’s Day, only the lock says it’s from 2013… Better late than never to declare one’s love, I suppose?
One commenter on Facebook called out the lovers as being cheapskates for not flying over to Paris. It is a nice idea, but the truth is, the 700,000 padlocks left by amorous couples are smothering the iconic bridges of Paris and threatening their collapse.
I love this, but preservation is also very important. Not sure how serious people are taking this issue, considering locks are sold right besides the bridge for a mere five euro (€5)
What if all the locks were taken off the bridge, and then melted into one ginormous lock sculpture to symbolism the universality of love and tradition? As opposed to just throwing them. Couldn’t that appease all parties?
Björn Borg™ (former World No. 1 tennis player from Sweden) branded sportswear, together with Swedish developer ISBIT GAMES, developed a video game to introduce and coincide with the launch of the brand’s spring summer 2015 collection (SS15), and it is ⭐✨♡fabulous!✨💋 Best of all, this snazzy 30 minute game is free to play in your web-browser, right in the comfort of your own butt groove.
The story goes; hate has spread across the world, and only a special agent armed with advanced love technology and dressed (conveniently) in Björn Borg approved apparel can save the day. Seek out and eliminate haters by firing special weaponized kisses until their clothes fall off, you can then “liberate” them from hate with your love beam, which miraculously has them walking out of a cloud of sparkles and perfume looking suprefly and getting their dance on. Go figure.
The learning curve for the controls is super simple, the gameplay is fun and the graphics are surprisingly good, more than any subsidiary material needs to be really. A welcomed burst of zest (and weirdness) to the often routine first person genre. But more miraculous is that this doesn’t feel like your typical ego-centric, sometimes misogynistic display of self-centered fashion promotion. First Person Lover is just a fabulous game. Spread the 💖 yall!
Here’s the entire extravagant game-inspired runway show during Fashion Week Stockholm 2014, for your viewing pleasure:

I just finished watching The X–Files: Fight The Future (1998) on TV, when I came online to discover people around Auckland and parts of the Waikato were talking about seeing a brilliant flash of light in the night sky. There were speculations, but no one knew for sure what they had seen. I was bummed-out that I didn’t see it for myself, but not bummed-out for being glued to the televisions screen (The X-Files movie is surprisingly great and not at all how I remembered it). All the online chatter about the incident reminded me of this quote from the movie; “If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.” ~ Special Agent Fox Mulder FTW
The flash, as it turns out, was a meteor and a surprisingly epic one at that; as captured by Josh Sherborne on his high-definition Dashcam:
Here’s the flash seen from Auckland City:
And here’s a look at what it really was — a very well made publicity stunt conspiracy:
All in all, what a magnificent thing to have shared with many other people across the country. Touché, Universe. But because I missed it watching a movie, I feel I have to share something with other X-Files fans who also missed the light show — Fox has confirmed that they are in the logistical phase of rebooting the series. It’s easy to be adamant in this post-Arrested Development/24/Veronica Mars/Twin Peaksreboot world, but Fox has promised, they’re not doing The X-Files without David “Mulder” Duchovny and Gillian “Scully” Anderson. X-Files is coming back! It’s hard to get excited over reboots, but considering there hasn’t been anything remotely as sophisticated, suspenseful and entertaining as it since; I want to believe.
As for the film, I understand why I didn’t enjoy it as a kid, scenes kept jumping back-and-fourth and returning to familiar locations which must have put me off, but really, for a movie tie-in between seasons 5 and 6, this is a great story about an alien bloodline that has been dormant on Earth since before the evolution of mankind itself. Mulder unravels the biggest conspiracy of his career (and the series) and there is a decent amount of alien in this than I remembered. No meteors though.
The X-Files movie delves deeply into the series’ mythology, further exploring the intrinsic relationship between Mulder and Scully, and ultimately exposes the truth behind a project that threatens to irrevocably alter the future of mankind:
Manuel Cisneros is an artist working and living on the beach in Ventura, California, who began building stone sculptures on the beach while homeless:
Film by Ross Harris. Music by MNDSGN courtesy of Stones Throw Records.
“Everything Happen for a Reason” is a moving and thought-provoking film about Manuel Cisneros, a man who, during a period of homelessness last year, began stacking stones into beautiful sculptures on Pierpont Beach in Ventura, California. In the film, Cisneros talks to filmmaker Ross Harris about his work and what brought him to the beach.

As it turns out, Cisneros, a native of Mexico, was in the midst of a very difficult period in his life last year. He was homeless, looking for work, and sleeping on Pierpont Beach. He began stacking stones on the beach as a way to pass the time, but found the practice so comforting that he soon began spending entire days on the endeavor. His beautiful cairns and rock towers are now a local attraction. And as of the writing of a December 2014 article in the Ventura County Reporter, Cisneros has found a backyard to camp in through friends he met at the beach.
While Google searching for a Dragon Ball Z picture to include in thelastpost, I came across one out-of-place and messed up image:
Coincidentally, after finding this, President Barack Obama gave an important speech at the 2015 Grammy Awards shedding light on sexual violence against women (NZ television), followed by an on stage speech from domestic violence survivor, Brooke Axtell, and an emotional performance by Katy Perry singing “By The Grace Of God”.
Obama listed statistics such as one in five women being raped or dealing with an attempted rape and one in four women facing domestic violence. He noted these disturbing statistics had to stop and said artists, like those attending the Grammy Awards, could help; “Artists have a unique power to change minds and attitudes and get us thinking and talking about what matters. And all of us in our own lives have the power to set an example,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chris Brown is nominated for three awards… Must have been an awkward moment for the guy, but not really I bet, he is celebrating at the Grammys after all. Time and a little community service heals all I guess, right?
I’m mentioning Chris Brown because of this messed up GIF, but really, a lot of music Hall of Fame inductees are known for lashing out at women — but a lot more have power to influence change. Seems like a major double standard on the Grammys part though.
That GIF really polarises the severity of the issue, also, how serendipitous was all this. And for those who are Chris Brown sympathizers, can one of you explain this tattoo on the side of his neck for me? Who or what is it meant to be a representation of?
His body art sadly is reminiscent of that one time he balled-up fist and went roundhouse on Rihanna. Or am I wrong in thinking his tattoo looks like the face of a battered woman? I have a feeling Obama’s message wasn’t referring to this guy for help, at all. #ItsOnUs
An event outside the Parco shopping center in Shibuya’s shopping and entertainment district in Tokyo, invited temporary frienemies to trade hurling kamehameha energy blasts at each other! The event was held from 5-8 February to celebrate the release of the PS4 game Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and it looked like fun:
