Selina’s idea for the final exam-prep lecture of the semester was to have a themed shared lunch — Death by Chocolate. We had Pineapple Lumps, M&Ms, Toffee Pops, Pods, Chocolate infused Raspberry Twizzlers, rich Cake and so many blocks of Whitakers chocolate I couldn’t tell the flavours apart. It was neat, but I’ve never wanted to eat an apple or an orange or any fruit so bad in my life before! You know what they say; too much of a good thing and all…

I think I am going to miss Selina’s class…Does that make me sound like a nerd?

“The Mountain and the Viper” and the Fly…

Wow. I don’t think I have anticipated an airing of an episode with so much high expectations before — I worry for Tyrion Lannister, OK. Masterful storytelling. For fans, this goes without saying; GoT is legendary for its cliffhangers. But last night, I may have caught a fly in my mouth during the credit scroll.

Switching between writing essays and surfing the web — the hallmark of study procrastination — I came across this anime and I like it, either because in my insomniac state, I am starved for entertainment, or this is incredibly random & funny:

The series follows the lives of a group of high school students and their school. Various oddities and absurdities abound, such as a robotic girl made by a scientist who is an eight-year-old girl, a boy who rides a goat to school with his butler, a girl who can procure various guns out of thin air, a cat that can speak and a principal who has wrestled a deer. Despite its bizarre settings and characters, the students still lead normal lives.

Kiwis on The Graham Norton Show

Jono Pryor and Ben Boyce from the ‘Jono And Ben At Ten’ show here in New Zealand managed to get themselves on The Graham Norton Show with guests Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Seth MacFarlane & Coldplay:

Aside from some of their pranks, “At Ten” isn’t really my cup of tea, but good on them.

This neat stop-motion animation by Marty Cooper (aka “Hombre_McSteez”) blends live-action environments with traditional animation cels, bringing the curious cartoons of the unseen world to life and brightening the mundane corners of our universe! This should leave you with a smile on your face:

Taika Waitit-ism & What He Does in the Shadows

•May 28, 2014 • Leave a Comment

Found a kiwi music video I like (from five years ago) and it stars visual artist, actor, writer and director Taika Waititi in his own side-scroller:

He’s kinda of a national treasure here in New Zealand. I remember meeting him at the KING OF KONG screening with Daisy that one time…should have taken a selfie. But the very first time I saw Taika’s talent was in his 2004 48Hour Furious Filmmaking Competition submission where he and Loren Horsley embodied several amusing characters:

On top of creating award-nominated films, orchestrating visually ingenious music videos, and having his own Wikipedia page; this fella was cordially invited to present himself at a prestigious TED conference!

The man is good, I tell ya. Here is his newest film soon to be released, and it looks bloody hilarious:

The official trailer for the New Zealand vampire comedy “What We Do in the Shadows, directed by Jemaine Clement & Taika Waititi, about three vampire flatmates coping with the modern world.

Denmark’s “VOTEMAN” PSA — Vote, or else this guy will probably touch you inappropriately [NSFW]

•May 27, 2014 • Leave a Comment

This crude, insanely violent and pornographic public service announcement was officially commissioned by Danish Folketing (parliament) and actually broadcast on Danish television in the hopes of encouraging young people while informing the nation of the importance of voting in the European elections:

I think the question on everyone’s mind is how exactly did the content of this manage to pass any vote? Skiing dolphins, interrupting couples mid coitus and smashing men and women through glass windows to get them to the voting booths seems rather needy and extreme (just a tad). I’m not complaining about the cartoon, — it’s far from boring — just it’s political connotation. The fact this has ties to government with a democratic majoritarian representation system of voting seems incredibly misinformed and I would be wary of whoever is in charge of your country’s public relations right now, Danes.

I admit to enjoying some levels of cartoon violence, but I am pretty sure this isn’t considered normal even by Denmark standards, but if it is…how do I apply for residency?
