“Star Trek Girl” by Meekakitty [nerdcore rap]

•January 28, 2011 • Leave a Comment

YouTube Vlogger, Tessa aka Meekakitty has just made a nerdcore homage to Star Trek! By playing the geek card she pretty much automatically acquires a legion of nerdy fans from around the globe United Federation of Planets 😉

We’re like moths to a flame when it comes to our Treks and Wars; its involuntary subconsciousness or something. Her video also features another YouTube vlogger, Ray William Johnson. No, I’m not a fan, but you might be after watching this:

Engaging, but I already have a Star Trek girl…Chief Medical Officer, Doctor Beverly Crusher! (Gates McFadden everybody)

Also; Marina Sirtis as Counsellor Deanna Troi and Denise Crosby as Security Chief Tasha Yar. What? They’re strong female roles ok.

I KNOW I KNOW I need to get out more…any Trekkies out there though?

UNICORN THUNDER ZORD POWER!

I never knew I wanted one so bad until just now!

It doesn’t bother me that they’re not organized by color, they’re in order, but I wouldn’t organise them like that. I DO NOT KNOW where you can buy these from. They must be made by a private collector. Sorry everyone.

Cee Lo Green’s “F**k You” in ASL (American Sign Language)

She’s got pizzazz! Not a big fan of the song, but she was expressive and it made me smile:

“My name is Anna and this is my final for a college level sign language class. I am not deaf and still learning sign language and encourage others to learn sign language as well! Thank you so much for all the love.”

Hearing the audience responsed to her signing is very warming. Don’t underestimate the power of sign language folks — Another YouTube Viral Star is Born!

ZOMG SUPER MARIO JELLIES!

•January 23, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Long story short, me and my friend got hungry, filled a trolly load of junk food from the supermarket and found these Super Mario Natural Fruit Snacks! My supermarket SUCKS when it comes to variety, but this slightly redeems them, a bit:

These gummies aren’t small either and being 98% fat-free, with no artificial colours or flavours, gluten and dairy free with no preservatives, they would be great for kids lunch boxes. …Or just for one big kid like me. Either or.

The majority of these gummies were of Yoshi and Donkey Kong though and I only found one Mario, but I think that makes these awesome!

“I wish I could talk in Technicolor.” A 1950s housewife takes ‘acid’ in the name of research!

A “typical” housewife takes a bunch of acid and answers a bunch of questions from a man who just doesn’t understand the molecular complexity of air.

With such polite mannerisms and spoken english in the 1950’s, sentences like “I wish I could talk in Technicolor,” “I’ve never seen such infinite beauty in my life” (3:34) and “If you can’t see it then you’ll just never know it. I feel sorry for you” are all very interesting things to hear and see:

LANEWAY FESTIVAL – 31 JAN 2011 – AOTEA SQUARE, AUCKLAND

•January 18, 2011 • Leave a Comment

New Zealanders will experience their second Laneway Festival this year in the newly revamped AOTEA SQUARE, beside the Auckland Town Hall. The square itself is perfect for Laneway, with room to fit stalls, stages and audience comfortably with more space and atmosphere than ever, plus local arts showcases and delicious cuisine!

And now, the most important line-up; the exciting acts of this year and next – Behold:

YEASAYER – FOALS – LADYHAWKE – !!! (CHK CHK CHK) – DEERHUNTER – BLONDE REDHEAD – CHILDREN’S HOUR – WARPAINT – BEACH HOUSE – ARIEL PINK’S HAUNTED GRAFITTI – LAWRENCE ARABIA – HOLY FUCK – AN EMERALD CITY

NO!? Does that mean Warpaint will play into Blonde Redhead? Hope not.

Since its inception in 2004 in Melbourne, Australia, the Laneway Festival has become synonymous, as they say, with hot summer days, awesome locations and diverse, forward-thinking line-ups filled to overflowing with vital, surprising bands.

Favouring talent over mainstream success, Laneway has consistently brought compelling, boundary-pushing acts to discerning punters and this year’s event will continue that tradition.

I don’t believe this personally, and with two separate, perfectly set-up camera angles, (the second one being a longer version of the first) you be the judge:

These three seem way too chipper for me to believe anyone could possibly be this confident/aware of their own stupidity to set off an extinguisher in a subway car, let alone, full knowing it would actually work! Sorry to debunk your happiness there, but science pranks are cool, until you realize they’re fake.

Pee-Wee Herman and Andy Samberg Get Forced into an Intervention

SNL have some really great skits and I rank this one right up there with the likes of such classics as ‘Mother Lover’, Dick in a Box’, ‘Palin Rap’ and pretty much everything with Drew Barrymore in it.

Returning to SNL for the first time in 25 years, Pee-Wee Herman goes on an all-out drinking bender with Andy Samberg. Alcohol abuse, celebrity friends, nostalgia and chairs all add to this soon to be cult favourite SNL short:

It’s great when celebs can parody themselves. “GET THE F*** OFF OF ME!”

Robyn covers Björk’s “Hyperballad”

I found this today and I love it!

Hyperballad is my favourite Björk song because it is simply sweet and beautiful. Swedish pop sensation Robyn — another artist I admire — does a faithful rendition of Björk’s song, who was honored for her exceptional song writing contributions and achievements in the music industry with the prestigious Polar Music Prize at Stockholm, Sweden last year:

According to her drummer, Bjork was teary, which you can see, and thanked Robyn afterwards saying that it was almost too emotional to watch.

I’ve seen Björk perform live and she was amazing, most of the people around me however where only there to see Rage Against the Machine who were headlining next. And no, that didn’t stop me from grooving like a boss. Happy Belated Björk!

Hyperballad is about one of her best friends committing suicide. It truly is a great song and one of my all time personal favourites ever, ever, ever:
