The Best Babysitting Ad Ever

Somewhere in the wilds of Chicago there’s a babysitter looking for work, an awesome babysitter, and his name is Jareth, the Goblin King. You’ll notice that all of the contact info tabs at the bottom of this ad have been torn off. Jareth’s magical services are in high demand in the Windy City. Photo by Ginger Fish

Pothole Art by Jim Bachor — Simultaneously Filling & Beautifying Chicago’s Potholes with Mosaic Flowers

♥ This is a great idea. Of course this is not a permanent solution to Chicago’s road safety issues around the streets of the city, but what a great, creative use of space and resources. Don’t stare too long though, these are found on the road after all:

What makes these extra cool is the fact that as of last February, it was estimated that there were roughly 600,000 potholes in the city. There is even an online Pothole Tracker, which maps potholes patched by the city’s Department of Transportation in the last 7 days.

Bachor installed four mosaics through this fall while the weather cooperated, but as things get cooler in the States, we’ll probably see less of his street art. See more photos and the addresses where each piece was installed @ Bachor.com

Keisha Castle-Hughes Featured in THE WALKING DEAD

I admit, I never watched the first few seasons of this show and I can’t say I ever will. Not that I need to. Season 5 has been telling some good stories so far, having detailed knowledge of the shows past isn’t necessary. Also, we like making a big deal when we see a familiar Kiwi on-screen:

Keisha Castle-Hughes Featured in THE WALKING DEAD

Keisha Castle-Hughes (born 24 March 1990) is an Australian-born New Zealand actress who rose to prominence for playing Paikea “Pai” Apirana in the film Whale Rider (2003).

Prince’s Eight-Minute ‘SNL’ Medley ft. 3rdEyeGirl

The last time Prince had eight uninterrupted minutes on national television, he was performing at the Super Bowl XLI halftime show in 2007. While that gig featured greatest hits like “1999,” “Purple Rain” and Let’s Go Crazy,” Prince’s Saturday Night Live set featured tracks that were likely unknown to most viewers. It didn’t matter: Prince, his backing band 3rdEyeGirl and guest vocalist Lianne La Havas still delivered one of the most explosive and most polished SNL musical spots anyone has witnessed since perhaps when Chris Rock, the guest host, was still an SNL featured player.” ~ Written by RollingStone’s Daniel Kreps

I am loving “Another Love” so much right now — Classic, Prince awesomeness.

An Idiot’s Mansplanation on Catcalling

Out of these three, guess which one knows what the fuck the real issue is:

Catcalling on CNN

CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield / Comedian Amanda Seales / Author Steve Santagati.

I love the way Amanda’s eyes subtly widen as Fredricka closes; “Clearly, it’s not over. Maybe this is just the beginning…” Who wrote that? It’s so stupid and ambiguous. FYI, it won’t be over, if you keep inviting antagonistic douchebags on air.

10 Hours of Walking in LA as a Drag Queen

Alright, I have a sense of humour and I get the intention behind this video, the makers even state it in their disclaimer; “(This Video is a comedy parody and have NO intentions in disrespect to the ORIGINAL)“:

As parody as this is meant to be, ironically it is still relevant to the original issue of catcalling; victims of this behaviour will always be women, even in parody; not to mention, there is a difference of intentions between the two videos and talents walking the streets as well. What this video proves is that identity profiling is very much impersonal regardless of gender, and catcalling shouldn’t be looked at as a single-sex issue if things are to change. One’s behavior isn’t dictated by one’s genitals, in relation to other people’s perceived genitalia… OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!

Believe it or not, there are nicer ways to show appreciation towards one another.
