Morgue Instagram: Meet Nicole Angemi, the Pathologist Assistant Who Posts Autopsy Photos
•June 24, 2016 • Leave a CommentNicole Angemi, aka @mrs_angemi, is a pathologist’s assistant in real life. But online she helms one of Instagram’s most controversial accounts, a first-hand portal into the world of organ dissections and autopsies — definitely one of the most interesting accounts:
And on a more, err, surprising (not even sure that is the right word) note; given Nicole’s profession, she had access to Prince’s autopsy report and publicly posted his death certificate while taking the opportunity to give insightful information and educate the masses on accidental death by opiate toxicity (Fentanyl).
“Let’s talk some more about Prince. The death certificate. Here it is! When humans die in this world, it can only happen in 4 ways. Naturally, at the hands of yourself (suicide), at the hands of another (homicide), or by accident. This is called the MANNER of death. One of these has to be picked by the person filling out the death certificate. If, after autopsy, it is uncertain still how the person died, a 5th category called “undetermined” can be picked. In Prince’s case, accidental was chosen as his manner of death. The next category listed under manner of death is CAUSE. What caused the manner of death? In Prince’s case, what caused the accidental death: Fentanyl toxicity. This means after toxicology results were received, the pathologist determined that Prince had levels of Fentanyl in his blood that caused him to accidentally overdose. […] The facts also are that in America thousands of people are dying from this everyday.”
Angemi regularly reminds her followers that she is not a doctor. Her expertise is in identifying infections and recognizing diseases among the deceased. Not everyone shares in her passionate mission to shed light on the postmortem world. Angemi faces constant anxiety over infringing on Instagram’s posting guidelines. She’s had countless photos “reported” by the Instagram community for reasons that have gone unexplained. Three of her accounts have unexpectedly shut down over the course of the year.
Peers in the medical world are also gunning for her Instagram account. Angemi’s pathologic documentation may strike most of her followers as a worthwhile medical contribution to an otherwise vapid social media landscape, but she said some health professionals believe that the photos and videos of autopsies and dissections she shares should be kept within the confines of academia and medicine, away from the general public.
“If someone wants to see what an autopsy looks like, why can’t they have access to that?”
Do you feel that? That right there is the primary catalyst for controversy, my friends. Besides film-making, comics, high fashion and strippers posting insane physics defying twerk videos (Olympics 2020, anyone?), @mrs_angemi is one more reason I should probably jump on board the Instagram bandwagon. And I have also just made up a new rule for myself; anytime Prince gets mentioned a song MUST accompany said mentioning.

The Unused Surplus of Coffins in America …?
•June 12, 2016 • Leave a CommentCame across some odd pictures and wondered about them. The pictures I saw were of hundreds of thousands of unused, hermetically sealed coffins. Coffins that are different for a few reasons, one being that they have a capacity to hold multiple bodies as if for mass cremations, and that they were recently commissioned to be made by the government-run department, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Who can be certain of facts when it comes to the internet though, am I right? Who knows what the real story behind these is. What I am certain of however, is that this massive stockpile of containers across America is for American citizens, who don’t even know it yet. Whatever the truth really is, I feel compelled to share the pictures anyway, and leave the conspiracies, causal connections and ideological theories up to the people.
This is an odd post, I admit. I am basically confused as I can’t see the big picture, so I am resorting to writing about and sharing the moment with you. I have no intention of scaring people about some preconceived martial law scenario. I do get that the coffins raise some questions about their nature of existence, for sure, but maybe America is really just preparing for a catastrophe, perhaps biological in nature, that “they” themselves do not know about yet. Perhaps… As far as preparation goes, that sure would have cost a lot of money, for things the government has no intention of using, right?

•June 6, 2016 • Leave a CommentPRINCE himself endorsed the Los Angeles-based R&B trio, KING, upon release of their debut album, inviting them to open during one of his “21 Nights” shows. This is a great song in its own right that I should have posted months ago, but it just seems fitting now given the recent news. KING have a brilliant 8-bit visual for their single “The Greatest“; an homage to the life and legacy of Muhammad Ali:
“That one [“The Greatest,” a Muhammad Ali tribute] was really important to us,” says Paris of the lead single. “There’s a lot going on in the world. There’s a lot out there that if you turn on the news, you can see how little people value your personhood. It’s a fun and uptempo, upbeat song, but underneath is the message, ‘You are great’, especially speaking to young people of color … and Muhammad Ali, with his unwavering confidence and not being afraid of anybody, his politics and his statement … that was really inspiring to us. The site works like Google, you simply enter in the name of a movie and it tells you the songs that featured in it. Here are two songs that I discovered that were once upon a time in my head but I never knew who the artists were, until today!!!
Cheb Khaled’s song is not on the original motion picture soundtrack to THE FIFTH ELEMENT, but it should have been. Hadn’t heard this in its entirety before — I love it!
Funny thing about Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King’s “Give It Up“, that tune was so ingrained in my head when I first saw FRIGHT NIGHT that I tried capturing it in my own way, way back when. Totally forgot I made this, “Brilliant Tension“:

Speaking of fingers; on route to dropping a friend off last Wednesday, we made a stop at the Botany Night-Market for a light bite to eat. We also scoured through a mountain of random jewelry that would make even Smaug envious, where I somehow managed to get a plastic Hello Kitty ring stuck on my pinky (I couldn’t make this ironic shit up), after Jasmine helped free me, I came across this symbol which I could have sworn I had seen somewhere before. I took a photo of it hoping I’d maybe come across where I recognized it from, if at all:
As it turns out, there it is in the YouTube picture above for “Alech Taadi”. It’s called the HAMSA HAND (Arabic) or hamesh hand (Hebrew) which is an old and still popular apotropaic amulet for magical protection from the envious or evil eye. The words hamsa and hamesh mean “five” and refer to the digits on the hand. It’s a good symbol.
